Carina in motion - by Tony Karp
Carina in motion

This is a picture of our precious little granddaughter. She lights up our life. Tony is even more crazy about her than I am. It is incredible to watch him with her. Tony is very creative, very smart but also incredibly nice. That is why I love him so much.

She is in constant motion and it is not easy to capture her image. But Tony never throws anything away including the images that are less than sharp. Tony can make do with whatever is in front of him. The result is this abstract. If you look you can see her shape and the shape at the top left is the window.

A brilliant piece of Techno-Impressionism.

Before Vanessa's house - by Tony Karp
Before Vanessa's house

When we first moved to Haymarket, this is what we saw when we looked across the road. After living in the cement canyons of New York City, this view was absolutely stunning for us. In this image Tony has captured both the beautiful and the scale of the vista.

Blue Madrileño - by Tony Karp
Blue Madrileño

This is another denizen of the Museo Arqueológico Nacional in Madrid. (Note: A Madrileño is someone who lives in Madrid.)

It's interesting that, for a place that we just popped into for a quick look, how many interesting pictures resulted from our brief visit. Perhaps the items in the more popular Madrid museums like the Prado and the Thyssen-Bornemisza are so familiar to most art lovers that they lose their uniqueness.

To make this fellow more interesting, I converted the picture to PostScript, so it looks like little patches of solid color. Then I added a thin white outline around each color patch. The final touch was to play around with the color, the contrast, and the tonal range.
